JO + BEN ST. JOHN WEDDING AND UNOH CELEBRATION

April 1, 2017

My April Fools Day didn’t consist of any jokes or pranks. It consisted of lots of love and morning mimosas. Two of my favorite things.

When Jessica and I arrived at the salon it really sunk in that Sam, we all call her Jo, was getting married. She was crazy prepared with a bag full of all her details, marriage certificate, and all the rings. Made the morning go so smooth!

When we got to the church, Jessica and I were crazy eager to see the gown. Jo has such an elegant style and we knew pearls were going to be an important part of her day. HER GOWN YOU GUYS. IT WAS STUNNING AND WHEN PUT ON…. WOW. It was unlike to norm which made it so unique. There wasn’t any lace or embellishments. It was timeless and was made perfect for Jo. Ben also was quite the dapper gentleman. When exchanging gifts, Jo got Ben this coolest watch. Like I don’t wear watches, but I’d wear the one Ben got… even if it ate my entire wrist.

Now, the ceremony… this is where things get funny. Before the ceremony I met Father Mike. He seemed familiar but I couldn’t quite figure out who he was so I brushed it off because the odds of me knowing a priest in Lima were very slim. The ceremony was absolutely beautiful and I loved every minute of it. Jo’s veil was a dream as it cascaded down the altar. Fairytale, that’s for sure.

From the ceremony came portrait time and we did that at an old abandoned bank. Abandoned sounds super dirty but it wasn't anything like that. There were stained glass windows, marble walls, and so much light! It was unreal and unlike anything I had ever shot in before.

Once we got to the reception, we did intros and then came the father of the bride speech… Jo’s dad mentioned and thanked Father Mike for driving all the way to Lima from Bowling Green. THIS IS WHEN IT GOT FUNNY AND LIGHT BULBS WENT OFF. When Tyler was a football player at BGSU, the traveling Chaplin’s name was Father Mike. IT HAD TO BE THE SAME PERSON. So I went up to Father Mike and he took my hand and asked if I needed anything and all I said was “Father Mike, I’m Tyler Tate’s wife”. I wish I had a Go Pro on my head because in this moment he freaked out and hugged me. He had so many questions and then goes “WE HAVE TO TAKE A SELFIE FOR TYLER!” and so we did.

After all of this, it was nothing but dancing and stuffing our faces with goods from the candy bar. Ben is such a great dancer! The way he was spinning around Jo and his mama, it made your heart flutter! But my goodness there was SO much candy. Tyler was definitely pumped about the goodie bag I brought home because it contained his fav sour tape!

So many things about this day made it the best. Again, my blog posts are always so long. Woops. It’s just these days are too good and the details are never too small to talk about. I hope you enjoy this day as much as I did!!
