Nothing makes me happier when one of my brides comes to me and tells me that their friend is in a photography crisis. I was all ears and ready to do whatever it took to make sure Mackenzie’s friend was taken care of. She told me to keep a look out for a phone call and so I did.
I can remember it like it was yesterday. It was Sunday and I was at my grandmas for brunch. I got a phone call from a 937 number and walked onto the patio to answer. It was Denise. Denise started out the conversation outgoing and bubbly… some of the biggest characteristics of the Denise we all love. She told me her situation and on the spot, I told her what I could do. I was available for her and I wanted to make sure her wedding experience was exactly what SHE wanted and dreamed of.
Fast forward to their engagement session. In between all this time we have exchanged many texts, many late-night phone calls, and emails. Up to the engagement session we already deemed each other friends and it made meeting Taylor even more exciting. As a friend, I was giddy to meet the man Denise fell in love with. They have been together since forever and have built such a strong bond that confidently lead them both to DC when Denise accepted her big girl job.
The way Taylor loves Denise is something admirable. He is always looking out for her, arm around her, and he always gets this particular smile when looking at her. You could truly see all this on the wedding day when Taylor made Denise a bride… his wife.
The ceremony was at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dayton. It was so good driving to that church because I got to drive through the city I basically grew up in. It was beautiful. Big pillars and stained-glass windows always brighten my day. When Denise walked down the aisle in her Allure gown, there wasn’t a dry eye present. Even I had a few tears collecting in my eyes.
The reception took place at the Mandalay Banquet Center and boy did it SLAY. The all white with pops of gold and sparkle created this dreamy feeling. It was sweet and simple… not too flashy… just what Denise and Taylor envisioned.
It was the best day and I’d live it all over again if I could. I’m just so thankful for weddings like these… I truly am. Because not only do I get all these beautiful images, I also gained beautiful life-long friends. HERE’S TO MR. AND MRS. LEE! Can’t wait for the next time we get to have mimosas together <3
